ENTRY Requirements:
There is no formal academic entry requirement. As stated by Cambridge English, candidates should be aged 18 or over and have an awareness of language and a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to undertake the course and teach at a range of levels.
CODE OF CONDUCT (CELTA)
The teaching profession necessitates that individuals comply with a code of conduct designed to maintain a positive, professional working environment. At ESOLARM during CELTA course participants are expected to assume a range of professional behaviors and responsibilities as part of their training. These behaviors and responsibilities form part of the CELTA assessment criteria. It is very important for participants to demonstrate that they can handle these responsibilities in an effort to meet the main standards
While doing CELTA at ESOLARM the trainees are expected to assume the below-mentioned responsibilities: to be punctual and not to be absent from the classes;
* to take joint responsibility for their own learning and to monitor their own progress
* in the teaching and learning environment with some access to course tutors for support
* to complete six hours’ supervised teaching practice at two different levels
* to complete six hours’ classroom observation of experienced teachers, three hours of which may be of filmed lessons
* to complete four written assignments
* to submit assignments in accordance with the center’s submission deadlines and polices
* to work supportively and collaboratively with colleagues and course tutors
* to maintain a Candidate Portfolio throughout the course
* to submit an up-to-date completed Candidate Portfolio when required, e.g. immediately prior to the external assessor’s visit
* to respect the property and facilities of ESOLARM, including the Learning Centre and computing resources, and respect the rights of others to use these facilities and resources;
*to participate actively in and contribute constructively to input sessions and teaching practice feedback
